I finally have a new computer! Okay, I've had it for a few weeks now... but decided to try and not neglect my journal here. I have this fear about "journals." It feels like I should be using it for something important or useful. I was never good at any type of diary. T_T But I'll try. Forgive my ramblings. As for news, I named my computer MakubeX (Get Backers--that genius computer pretty boy)! It amuses me. I think I'll need to draw a MakubeX chibi just so I can make it into a sticker and stick it on my PC. I'll be paying it off for some months but I think it was worth it. Especially after being without my own computer the ENTIRE summer. Shock. Wonder. Awe. I didn't know how I'd live without my computer for 1 week and I survived a whole summer? It's beyond me. But then again, I somewhat used it as an excuse to relax and catch up on a mountain load of reading. I suppose I could have painted but felt unmotivated and no computer sounded like a good excuse to my guilty conscience. ^^ I thought the 19" widescreen would be kinda weird but I LOVE it. It's so big.. and the chaos of windows I usually have open at a time have more room, than coupled with Vista's shiny prettiness. Not to mention it's perfect for watching Anime/Drams that are widescreen format... which I'm only now realizing are quite a lot.
I found an art-related job! Started working in the summer as a Caricature artist at Busch Gardens. I love it and hate it. I'm an indoors girl and the heat this summer is murder. The heat index has mostly been over 100 degrees. You stand in the shade and melt. So far I've been either too hot or too wet (hard to stay dry under those umbrellas sometime XD). Then it's an hour drive there each way ($_$) and if I don't make commission averaged over the week the pay isn't very inspiring. Other than that, however, I like my co-workers, I enjoy being able to meet and socialize with a lot of different people from all over the place... and know many of my artwork will be appreciated and hung up. I get tips occasionally which always makes me feel nice. I don't exaggerate as much as a caricature artist typically should, sticking either to cute or fairly cartoon-normal. I don't like making people look stupid or silly--though I've met a lot of people who appreciate that. It's more satisfying work than just retail. There are so many jobs that are art related it really boggles my mind. I love doing so many different things though, it's hard to choose one thing. Sure I like doing murals but I don't ONLY like doing murals. I like doing graphics and web design, but more as a complement to working on actual artwork. People have told me for years that I'll go far with my art, and I want to prove them right. But where and how I don't know. I'm just praying to leave my future in God's hands and do the best with whatever comes my way. I've long since had enough about worrying what I'm going to do with my life. There's nothing like the present. :)
a bunch of RAnDomNeSs...In other news, my best friend (Midnite) is now rooming with my family! I am very happy about that since it's so much easier to see and spend time with her with our different schedules. Plus she brought her kitten, Gigi, with her (aside from the fact that we now have 3 black cats in the house...).
2nd Year for commercial art class has just started. Happy to be back! A great and challenging class to be part of.
I got my first real video game! (DDR doesn't count). Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2 (Midnite bought the first.) Really having fun with it--even if it it IS the English voices.
Organizing my iTunes library is beginning to feel like wishful thinking....
My Nana (Grandma) up north died a few days ago T_T She was around 90 though and a very nice Christian lady. <3
It's nice having money in my account again... but maybe too nice? ... =)
I STILL need to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, even though I bought my copy a few weeks ago. I wanted to finish rereading the fifth and sixth books (maybe I'll cave). But I also just got the third book, Eclipse in Stephanie Meyer's romance/vampire series... which propelled me to reread the first two. I ADORE this series and love Edward and Bella. The beginning of the second book still made me cry though, but the awesome ending makes up for it. I read that the 3rd book just knocked Harry Potter to number 2 spot in sales this last week or so. <3 I'm happy that it's doing well. Maybe it'll propel it into being made a movie all the sooner (praying they don't butcher it too much).
Ah I really like the Hana Kimi Jdrama! Shun as Sano =
Miyuzuki and Nakatsu are really good too. Err some of the characters are a bit too weird and they really compacted stuff together, but it's still good. The REALLY need to make an anime of this. How long must we wait?Recently watching: [anime] Lovely Complex, La Corda D'Oro, Glass Mask, Zombie Loan, Naruto Shippuden.
Recently read/reading: [manga] Gentleman's Alliance <3, Millennium Snow. [novels] Harry Potter, Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse

Forgive me if I'm brief--I'm rewriting this post as I idiotically lost all that I wrote (don't you hate that?). Oh well. Please also forgive the plain looking journal--as least it's clean with pretty colors, right? Banners/adds bug me to death, so I went with just the basic account. Maybe I'll cave later. I spent too much time adjusting colors and stuff as it was. Valuable time that I could have been watching Doramas on a Sunday morning (which I could, btw, use for more constructive stuff but usually don't). Netscape won't let me edit the journal text and mozilla crashes on me when I try, so I'm resorting to IE to write this.
RANDOM SPAZING--->
* It's actually cool outside! Ahh so nice. Last few days have been hot and muggy which is no fun without air conditioning.
*I FINALLY got video converted to the right format to play on my Ipod! So happy... made it finally worth the new Ipod. The video's so clear and nice I think I can even read subtitles well enough on it. Amvs come first though.
*Lastly, I finally found a program I liked enough to buy to burn DVDs! I'm picky about customizing menus. The biggest seller though for it was that it allows you to attatch .srt subtitle files.Perfect. :D
*Yay, the emotes I made for Gaia work on hear since the backgrounds white! lol
Moving on and 'cause I'm a lazy girl, just gonna post my bio for any who don't know me...
21 year old student and artist. Funny, I always thought I'd feel more like an adult by now... but no, still feel like a kid. Graduated with my AA degree and currently taking a commercial art class. I'm a complete anime and dorama junkie. Sometimes I feel like I live and breathe it. I draw it, I write it, edit it(amvs), create a club around it of which 10-20 otaku invade my family's house once every two weeks. I drill my parents on a few japanese words so that I may use them and know they understand. My father watches anime me with me (everything from Naruto, One Piece, and Sailor Moon to GTO, Deathnote, and Samurai Champloo). Both my parents have seen and loved the Gokusen Drama.
In one class the teacher had us write 5 goals (small or large)... I came up with
1. Go to Japan (prefferably with friends)
2. Publish a book (written or manga)
3. Learn Japanese (at least to decently understand and speak)
4. Make a decent living through my art
5. Own a Dollfie or asian ball-jointed doll ($500-$700)
Anyway, I'll be happy to make any new friends here! Ja ne.
Star-chan
